Fact or Fantasy?
Air New Zealand
Framestore
2018

This was a fun project to work on alongside the Labs team at Framestore. An AR experience on the Magic Leap, for Air New Zealand. The experience played out like a virtual board game, where multiple players answered trivia questions about New Zealand, where the board was a map of New Zealand. Landmarks and fun animations were scattered over the board, and also pop up in front of the players during relevant questions. I modelled a hobbit house, which would float in front of the player. I also modelled a tree called Tane Mahuta, which is a very old giant kauri tree, also referred to as the God of the Forest in New Zealand. Like the hobbit house, this would float in front of the player and the tree would grow up above a small forest.

Another asset I modelled was a crayfish, which in the water we would see a diver catch and hold up, before it jumps on the divers face. All these models had to be fairly low polycounts to they could be rendered real time in Unreal, on the Magic Leap devices.

A few members of the New Zealand rugby team stopped by the offices to play the game too.

Here's more info about the project on the Framestore website.
